Image description:
Hands move up and down the paper, not anchored to anything and in a sense floating in space. From the hands, there are orchids growing out of the veins, as blood drips down the hand.
Following inspiration from hands in old renaissance paintings, and looks like a developed hand study. The hands move absent from the rest of the body while overlapping each other. The hands are posed in both graceful and grotesque ways, again taking inspiration from the overly posed thin fingers of renaissance paintings. The flowers grow from veins and are emphasized by the tendons. The piece is both beautiful and painful, as love is. The hands are graceful and beautiful, and the flowers grow strongly, but even with this beauty there is pain as the flower uses strength to grow. For me this piece illustrates the beauty and growth that comes from loving someone and the pain that may come from drifting apart.
